Material-specific Conversion Factors for Different Solid Phantoms Used in the Dosimetry of Different Brachytherapy Sources
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Introduction Based on Task Group No. 43 (TG-43U1) recommendations, water phantom is proposed as a reference phantom for the dosimetry of brachytherapy sources. The experimental determination of TG-43 parameters is usually performed in water-equivalent solid phantoms. The purpose of this study was to determine the conversion factors for equalizing solid phantoms to water. Materials and Methods TG-43 parameters of low- and high-energy brachytherapy sources (i.e., Pd-103, I-125 and Cs-137) were obtained in different phantoms, using Monte Carlo simulations. The brachytherapy sources were simulated at the center of different phantoms including water, solid water, poly(methyl methacrylate), polystyrene and polyethylene. Dosimetric parameters such as dose rate constant, radial dose function and anisotropy function of each source were compared in different phantoms. Then, conversion factors were obtained to make phantom parameters equivalent to those of water. Results Polynomial coefficients of conversion factors were obtained for all sources to quantitatively compare g(r) values in different phantom materials and the radial dose function in water. Conclusion Polynomial coefficients of conversion factors were obtained for all sources to quantitatively compare g(r) values in different phantom materials and the radial dose function in water.

متن کاملDosimetry analysis of panoramic‐imaging devices in different‐sized phantoms
The aim of this study is to measure the radiographic dose in adult, adolescent, and child head-sized PMMA phantoms for three panoramic-imaging devices: the panoramic mode on two CBCT machines (Carestream 9300 and i-CAT NG) and the Planmeca ProMax 2D. A SEDENTEXCT dose index adult phantom and custom-built adolescent and pediatric PMMA dosimetry phantoms were used. Panoramic radiographs were perf...

متن کاملEffects of different carriers for adsorption of I-125 on brachytherapy sources
Background: One of the key techniques for the preparation of 125I seeds is adsorption of 125I onto silver bits coated by palladium (pd). Carriers played an important role in the adsorption of 125I on palladium. KI is used as a carrier for fixing of 125I onto silver wire bits coated with palladium. Materials and Methods: Three procedures KI, KOH, NH4OH were investigated for adsorption of ...

the present study sought to investigate the role of dynamic assessment (da) in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels. to this end, after conducting the quick placement test, 60 iranian efl learners were assigned to two groups with different language proficiency levels. in both groups each participant wrote two compositions, one before and one af...
Traceability to Absorbed-dose-to-water Primary Standards in Dosimetry of Brachytherapy Sources Used for Radiotherapy
− In the current brachytherapy practice, the procedures to determine the absorbed dose imparted to the patient are affected by an uncertainty higher than in radiotherapy with external beams. That could reduce the success of brachytherapy treatments. Most of the uncertainty is due to a lacking metrology: no absorbed-dose primary standards are so far available to assure direct traceability in dos...
